POLINOX® Unitized Disc
POLINOX Unitized DiscPOLINOX® unitized discs are used for face-down grinding with variable speed angle grinders. Ideal for larger surfaces. The compressed, non-woven material is bonded to a fiberglass back. POLINOX® unitized discs are made of multiple heavily compressed, non-woven layers, which are bonded together by a special grain/resin system. The different combinations of compression, fibers, grain, and the appropriate bond create non-woven products that offer a very good surface finish, high stock removal rate and long tool life. These tools can be used for a wide range of work on surfaces, from relatively coarse grinding to preparing the surface for polishing. Medium-hard version with increased edge strength and service life for coarse deburring and cleaning applications.Special featuresCost-effective due to high abrasive performance and durability.Produces very good surface quality. Can be profiled as desired, enabling optimal adjustment to the contour.ApplicationsCleaningDeburringStep-by-step fine grindingRougheningStructuring (matt finishing, brush matting and satin finishing)Surface workMaterials that can be workedStainless steel (INOX)Steel materials with a hardness > 54 HRCSteels up to 370 HV (< 38 HRC)ThermoplasticsTitaniumTitanium alloysZincAluminumBrassBronzeCast steelCobalt-based alloysCopperFibre-reinforced thermosetting plastics (GRP, CRP)Hardened, heat-treated steels over 370 HV (38 HRC)Nickel-based alloys (e.g. Inconell and Hastelloy)Recommendations for useConsiderably reduce peripheral speed for work on materials with poor heat-conducting properties, e.g. titanium and stainless steel. For the best performance, use with a recommended peripheral speed of 3,000-6,000 SFPM. POLINOX® Unitized Wheel
POLINOX Unitized WheelPOLINOX® unitized wheels are made of multiple heavily compressed, non-woven layers, which are bonded together by a special grain/resin system. This particular bond results in non-woven products that create very good surface finishes and have high stock removal rate and long service life. These properties come into play especially when deburring, blending, finishing, and polishing soft metals, alloyed and high-alloy steels, as well as titanium alloys. This version for straight grinders, flexible shafts and bench grinders is designed for working on smaller surfaces. Hard version with very high stock removal rate, good edge strength, and long service life for tough deburring and polishing applications.Special featuresCost-effective due to high abrasive performance and durability.Produces very good surface quality. For universal applications from coarse to fine grinding.Special featuresConforms to contours due to high flexibility.Consistently high stock removal rate throughout the entire service life as new, aggressive abrasive is constantly exposed. Can be used face-down very close to edges and in corners thanks to special clamping system.ApplicationsDeburringStep-by-step fine grindingLevelingStructuring (matt finishing, brush matting and satin finishing)Surface workWork on weld seamsMaterials that can be workedStainless steel (INOX)Steel materials with a hardness > 54 HRCSteels up to 370 HV (< 38 HRC)AluminumAnnealed cast ironBrassCast steelCopperGrey/nodular cast iron (GG/GJL, GGG/GJS)Hardened, heat-treated steels over 370 HV (38 HRC)Recommendations for useFlap wheel wear and the thermal load on the workpiece are reduced by decreasing the contact pressure and peripheral speed, and by adding grinding oil.Stock removal rate should be increased by using a coarser grit, not by increasing the contact pressure. This avoids unnecessary flap wheel wear and prevents the thermal load of the workpiece.Increasing the speed results in a slightly finer surface quality. An increase in contact pressure results in a slightly coarser surface. The softer the workpiece material, the coarser the resulting surface (when using the same grit size). For the best performance, use with a recommended peripheral speed of 3,000-6,000 SFPM. This provides an ideal compromise between stock removal rate, surface quality, thermal load on the workpiece and tool wear.Use the appropriate grinding oil for the material to significantly increase the service life and the abrasive performance of the discs. For the best results, use a power tool with 1,000–1,500 watts.SafetyUnmounted flap wheels should only be used with the appropriate clamping flanges. For safety reasons, the maximum permitted rotational speed indicated must never be exceeded. The contact pressure has to be reduced significantly when the optimum rotational speed is exceeded. The maximum permitted peripheral speed is 9,800 SFPM.Technical informationDia.
